Romney Ties His Family Dog To the Roof of His Car. What?!?

Hey Pawsters!

Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney might have his hands full with PETA and other animal lovers after events involving his family dog from over 20 years ago resurfaced.

Apparently, Romney took his family dog, an Irish Setter named Seamus, on a 12-hour car trip in 1983. . .tied to the roof of his car. Yes it is true that Seamus was insulated in an “air tight crate container” of come sort. And, as you will see from the interview he gave to Fox TV, Seamus actually “would jump up onto the roof into the crate himself.” I am not sure how he managed to lock himself in for the more than 11 hours of car riding on the chilly trip to the Vermont ski mountain region.

Mr. Romney tried to explain that Seamus enjoyed riding on the roof. He asserted in this nationally televised interview that, with a car full of five children, the dog was probably more comfortable up top than he would have been if he was in the car.

What Romney obviously didn’t know was that putting live animal on the roof of a car, whether or not it is in a kennel, is considered cruel and inhumane in the state of Massachusetts. Mmmmm….shouldn’t our elected official and presidential running mates be aware of the laws, especially in their home state?

You can watch the snippet of Mitt Romney’s interview on Fox News below of Mitt Romney, who let his dog ride on the roof of his car in 1983:

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has currently come under fire again from animal lovers for putting his dog on the roof of his car for a 12-hour car trip in 1983.

Romney’s actions obviously weren’t the smartest. Most animal lovers, as the interviewer notes, would just as soon put their animal on the roof of a car as they would their own children.
